Revelstoke Community Energy Corporation

Revelstoke was the first small community to move into a bio-mass fuelled district heat system and hence was the pioneer that had to find the way through the challenges that existed, and still exist in the field.

Today, Revelstoke Community Energy Corporation (RCEC) runs an award-winning system that burns wood “waste” from the Downie Timber sawmill to create steam for the drying kilns at the mill and hot water that is piped to ten City buildings and downtown businesses.  RCEC is an important part of Revelstoke’s future energy resilience by offering stable, low cost, locally-generated energy with very low emissions.
